Disorganized

I'm curious. Are other writers as disorganized as I am? Is this why I feel so unsuccessful in writing? I'm currently going through my notebooks. I have a half dozen or so, with bits and pieces from a half dozen or more story bits.

Should I keep working on just one story at a time or keep doing what I'm doing. What I'm doing is (as indicated by the notebooks) is I get inspired by different things at different times and I just write. The result it, sometimes I change a scene that I've already written but can't find. Sometimes I skip scenes completely. But it is good that I'm at least writing something correct?

And never mind the disorganized mess that is currently uploaded to my gmail via my phone and scattered in my Google docs. I'm not even thinking about those yet!

Thief

I think I know what kind of writer I am. I am a thief.

Now don't misinterpret me, and let me further explain my statement. I take people's wonderful ideas for a story or a way a story is told and make it my own. I do not steal it directly but I get inspired by it. First example. Sally's story started after I read a fictional blog called Lez and the City. I took idea of a fictional blog written by the fictional character, plus with the prevalence of city dwelling lesbians on television, and changed the element of city to country. Tada! Stolen, and yet mine. This of course developed into a story of its own. A deep and complex story that I struggle to get down on to paper in my own way. The way it developed on its own, with each blog post coming to me as if Sally were writing it herself right then was amazing.

Next example. It had been a while since I'd perused The Kitten Board site. The site that was the start of my inspired writing back during the worst of my depression and coming to grips with being gay. A few old stories were renewed (Neverland being an amazing story) and I even made one post. I decided to check out some new stories too. I saw a title that indicated it was a crossover to Grey's Anatomy, another of my favorite shows. I liked it. It was good but it wasn't what I would write. So I decided to start writing my own. So again stolen, and yet completely my own. I didn't write much of it because I was appalled at my behavior stealing like so.

I really don't know where I was going with this but I felt the need to write it down and call myself out. So am I a thief or just inspired? I mean I already have enough stuff I intend to write.... Which I may someday get to.

NaNoWriMo

I know it is a little early to be mentioning this but I already got an
email reminding me (and asking for donations of course). And I am
thinking seriously about it this year. I gave it a try last year
expecting to fail. Glad I didn't disappoint myself.

I want to do it this year. I want to succeed. I need to really learn
to push myself to keep writing even if I think what I have written is
crap. I can fix it later, and I usually do if I let it sit long
enough. But getting it out and not letting myself get stuck... That is
what is important.

Also maybe I should stop trying to work on 3-4 different things at a
time. But sometimes I can't help it. The writing comes to me and if I
don't write it down it might get lost.

Sorry, back to the point I am trying to get to. What should I write?
The story I tried last year I plan to change it back to a short story,
and back to the fan fic I originally planned it as. I could get
started on the novel I want to write but I feel like I am not ready.
Which is why I planned a short fic in that fantasy world to help get
more comfortable with it. I wonder if I will ever be ready.

But maybe my place was never to be a fantasy writer, maybe I am
supposed to write contemporary lesbian romance fiction. Which brings
me to my other option, expanding the blog into a third person novel.
Which I could potentially publish on my own and sell to my huge
fanbase who follow it (I wish I wasn't being sarcastic) and will
already know the end of the story. But it could work. The last option
is to try something new.

Maybe I will discover that I am also meant to be a short story writer...

So any suggestions? I will gladly hear them.

Test post

Just attempting my email posting optioms since my text one didn't go
over very well. Which means I might have to draw this out to get a
post significant enough, as my test text post went over well due to
its shortness. Of course typing on my tiny screen with occasional lag
may result in a severe amount of grammatical and spelling errors that
slip through my keen editing skills. That may or may not be a joke.
But if I can post more that would make me happy.

I posted something!

Sorry but not on Lez Country.

Check me out over at The Kitten Board: Believe in Fairies

That is all for now folks. Once I get these five year lost things closer to done I will probably start finishing this. Hopefully it won't take another five years.

Work has been long and gruelling. But I am enjoying the physicalness of it and it gives me my 'alone' time to write. I should be making progress at actually updating both blogs, my plan is every other Wednesday, approximately, when my beloved is in class and I can spend some quality one-on-one time with a fast computer and fast internet. I've been reading more which always inspires me to write more. A good portiom of it has been erotica as I am away from my girl for extended periods.

But that is a different subject, and while I don't mind some smut for smuts sake, I don't think it will ever be anything I will ever strictly write. Again getting off the subject.

So you few fans who are still following this oft neglected blog, I adore you, I really do. But it is time for me to get more followers and I will need to be actively outreaching. But that means everyone, new and faithful followers, will be hearing from me more. I am sure we can all agree that is a good thing.

The first task I have in mind is to only start posting stuff I have finished. I hope to do a few more shorts as well. And I am coming out. I am a fanfic addict. My name is WiccanBotanist. I escaped the thrall of the kittenboard when I started taking anti-depressants and got into a relationship. Plus I hated how much of a "Jenny Schecter" I was starting to pull on some of my fics. I had to take a break. But they are my people, they are my inspiration, they are my audience. I need them and I miss them.

So that is my coming out and this Wednesday I should be putting up a few posts. Love you all, can't wait to get to work. -DTB

Let me introduce myself... Again

Hello. Long time no see. I have been writing again. I have been reading again. Life is wonderful and good and I am back on top of the world. Never mind that when I first started this project, ie Lez Country, it was mostly escapism from the Hell I was in. Sometimes when you are down long enough that you even give up on escaping. Actually I focused my attention elsewhere, like applying for every single job out there. I had an interview for Portland, I hope I get it. But in the meantime I found something temporary to get me out. And since I've been enjoying myself it was time to start again.

And it flowed. Just like it did before. After I made the appropriate arrangements that got me stuck, it just came to me and on to the paper. I've been writing and writing and writing. Oh how I've missed you.

My web presence probably won't jump up too much though as I have limited access. I do have my mobile set up. And once I get going on more posts (remember they are back dated) and get close to the end I will think about first changing the name, and second getting a proper web page to post the blog and have it ready for when I expand the story into 3rd person.

So that is my update for now. Readers come back!
